It is becoming increasingly common to find the supply side of the construction industry taking on a proactive role in the use of their materials in the housing. Let's be honest this is done for two principal reasons:

Competitive advantage. If they do not do it their competitors might.
Ensuring that the material is supplied to the highest standard and that product requirements can be predicted.

GB Brick & Artstone Limited, a Yorkshire based Cast Stone manufacturer, is taking positive steps to ensure that product is arriving on site on time, in the correct sequence and that quality is of the highest order. GB has been working with Bryant Homes Yorkshire to develop a scheduling and delivery programme that is flexible enough to take account of the unexpected, but robust enough to ensure that build programme is maintained. The manufacturers of Rylstone Cast Stone have worked closely with Bryant Homes to develop the system.

Standard products have been designed for the Bryant house types using CAD. This helps to reduce lead times and minimise production costs. It is essential that Cast Stone has a two week curing period following manufacture. The use of Standard products helps the manufacturer ensure British Standard compliance.
Information on site schedules and house types are taken by GB Brick & Artstone and full site schedule for Rylstone Cast Stone is produced, plot by plot. Once this has been approved by Bryants, the material is put into the production plan.
Working closely with the site team, GB closely manages call offs and any variance in the requirement can be taken account of.
Finally, the After Sales service of GB works closely with the Bryant Homes Customer Service Department to ensure that the end user is happy with the product.

Rocket science it isn't, but the resultant efficiencies for the manufacturer and the Housebuilder are evidence of the effectiveness of two sides of the industry working more closely together, providing the householder with the best product possible."
