Derbyshire Moor Gritstone

This carboniferous Gritstone is fine to coarse grained and varies in colour from pink to buff with brown flecking.

Limestones

Cumbrian Limestone

This is a fine-grained limestone of early Carboniferous Age. Dark blue when quarried, it weathers to a pale grey when used externally. The quality of the stone allows it to be used face-bedded with confidence. When polished the stone is a rich chocolate brown shade. The flame textured stone makes an ideal paving material.

Derbyshire Limestone

This is a fine-grained carboniferous limestone and is pale grey/white in colour. The stone accepts a good polish and fragments of fossil give it a light flecked appearance.

Sandstones

Scottish Red Sandstone

This Permian sandstone is medium grained and characterized by its red/pink colouration.

Cumbrian Coastal Red Sandstone

This dark red sandstone dates from the Permo-Triassic period and has been used extensively on both sides of the Atlantic.

Cumbrian Fell Red Sandstone

This is a medium grained sandstone uniformly pink in colour with a quartz grain. This is an extremely resistant stone.
