Involvement at the earliest stage possible provides the best opportunity
for the Total Stone Solution to be of the greatest benefit. Decisions
need to be made about the suitability of masonry types in order to provide
the most cost effective, Total Stone Solution, to any scheme. Consequently,
an early call to the team at GB is essential.
Nature of Consultation
Inevitably, the fine detail is unlikely to be determined during the initial
consultations, but the broad material types can be decided using the following
parameters:
- Aesthetic criteria
- Performance criteria
- Material behavior
- Location of material on building
- Geographical location
- Planning issues
- Budget
These factors usually heavily influence the number of options available
to the design team. The knowledge of the GB staff will then assist the
design team in compiling the masonry package.
Critical Path Analysis
Awareness of the construction programme requirements, together with the
lead times for the various masonry items under consideration, will govern
the materials offered for selection. Lead times for any given material
can vary enormously over time. We keep in contact with all current lead
times and can therefore advise the design team of the implications for
the construction programme of using any material.
